GRIMSBY STRIKE TEAM BLITZ NOTTINGHAM!

Sunday 20th February saw another early start for 16 members of John Tomlinson’s’ Grimsby Strike Team from the Grimsby Freestyle Kickboxing Club. They travelled to the Wildcats Basketball Arena in Nottingham to compete in The Martial Arts Show 2 Live.

Emotions were running high for some members of the Grimsby Strike Team, as this was their debut competition. After a spectacular opening ceremony, which included a Chinese Dragon, dancers, hula hoopists and an excellent weapons demonstration, the competition kicked off over 6 areas.

On Sunday 27th March 2011, four junior and one adult fighters made the long journey to Birmingham for the first tournament in the Birmingham Series Championship 2011. The tournament kicked off and the first of the Grimsby Strike Team to fight was talented Ethan Noton (7) in the boys -4ft 4 semi-contact advanced category. This category was a round robin. Ethan found himself against a very good black belt who had height on his side! Ethan won his next fight 13-3, there was no stopping him. He got his legs going and then was finishing with his fast blitz techniques. Ethan won 2nd place.

Sunday 31st October saw three young students from the Grimsby freestyle kickboxing club’s fight squad the “Grimsby strike team” travel to Cheltenham for the World united martial arts international open tournament and came away with a host of trophies to proudly display.
